Organic On a Budget

Just because you buy organic, doesn't mean you can't get bargains. I've been buying organic for years for myself and husband--who eats enough food for at least 2 or 3 people. Don't tell him I said that. Did you know there are a plethora of organic coupons online and in other sources? I'll show you where to find these coupons and give you some other helpful tips for all you frugal foodies.

Places You Might Not Have Looked

• Sign up for coupons on organic brand websites. Organic Valley, Silk, and many others have coupons you can print out and some may have a way to be notified when new coupons are available.
• Write your favorite companies fan e-mail. I received about 2 6-packs of free yogurt once this way.
• You can also find great coupons on product packaging. Sometimes companies want you to take the risk and buy their products at full price the first time. Once you do, they want to keep you coming back for more by offering discounts on future purchases. I find most of these on things like cereal, frozen fruits and vegetables, and ice cream.
• Sign up for your grocery store's savings card. Not only can you save each time you shop, some stores also send you coupons by mail. This has been a great source for me.

Other Shopping Tips

• Make a shopping list based on available coupons.
• Use coupons to purchase sale items whenever possible to maximize savings.
• Check out the bargain bin every shopping trip. Once I found a high-end pet trimmer for $3. You just never know.
• Use store coupons anywhere if they say "Manufacturers Coupon" on them. I did this successfully before. I believe you can do this anywhere. Let me know if you find out otherwise.
• For the ultra cheapskate, stock up by printing multiple coupons if possible, and use a coupon for each item bought.
